The Steven and Jann Paul Hall for Science and Engineering
Building a dynamic new home for STEM at Tulane
Tulane’s science and engineering faculty are propelling our university — and our culture — forward, sparking scientific breakthroughs and innovating compelling solutions to some of our world’s most pressing challenges. We invite you to support our new home for science and engineering — The Steven and Jann Paul Hall for Science and Engineering. This remarkable building is integral to our growth as a school and university and will inspire a new era of innovation at Tulane.
A New Home for Dynamic Research
Steven and Jann Paul Hall Science and Engineering Building will include approximately 76,000 gross square feet. In the new five-story building and mechanical penthouse, Tulane scientists and engineers will tackle our society’s most pressing challenges, innovating new solutions, knowledge and technologies that will positively impact health care, energy, the environment and so much more. The building will include three floors of interdisciplinary research laboratories for about two dozen principal investigators, core facilities, an animal research facility, a 200+ seat auditorium and student areas.
Translating Research into Bold Solutions
There is no better way to translate innovative research into effective solutions than by locating researchers in synergistic patterns to inspire new ways of thinking, spur creativity and encourage collaboration. With faculty arranged by research themes to facilitate partnership and “hang-out” spaces to encourage meetings between students and faculty, Paul Hall will bring disciplines together — sparking creative connections and propelling discovery forward.
An Unrivaled Undergraduate Experience
The School of Science and Engineering is growing: It is currently among the largest undergraduate schools at Tulane, enrolling nearly 40 percent of all undergraduates. Paul Hall will significantly increase the capacity for research and collaboration at every level. Paul Hall’s state-of-the-art design will spur student-faculty interaction, provide access to critical mentorship and invite undergraduates to experience all that the school has to offer.
Catalyzing a New Era for Science and Engineering
Dean Kimberly Foster has an expansive vision for a new era of science and engineering at Tulane — one that will begin with the Steven and Jann Paul Hall for Science and Engineering. The building will provide an open and welcoming space where industry sponsors, entrepreneurs and visiting faculty can spend time on campus working closely with our faculty and students.
