As the largest capital investment in Tulane’s history, The Village will dramatically increase on-campus residential capacity and help revolutionize how students experience Tulane.

Estimated at $100 million, Phase One will be comprised of two new student residence halls totaling 230,000 square feet. These interlocking buildings on the site of the former Bruff Commons will offer approximately 700 new beds, 11,000 square feet of co-study space, a multipurpose theater and living/learning meeting rooms and classrooms as well as many other features.

Tulane’s vision for the future of the undergraduate experience is one where learning never stops. By engineering a dynamic social and cultural environment with The Village, students will be more involved in campus activities, will connect more with faculty and will form more meaningful relationships with each other. A combination of multi-use communal spaces and integrated classrooms will provide a vibrant hub and elevate the undergraduate experience.

The Residential Village will realize a vibrant new vision for the undergraduate experience at Tulane. The interlocking buildings that comprise phase one of this exciting project will be built on the site of the former Bruff Commons. After the first two buildings are constructed, Phelps, Irby and Paterson will be demolished to make way for the uptown campus transformation. The Village will bring a distinct academic focus and draw energy from New Orleans.

Dynamic community spaces, inviting amenities and an array of spaces for students to connect with each other, with faculty and with new ideas combine to form our vision for this innovative and pivotal residential community. A multi-use space that can be a lecture hall by day and movie theater at night. Programming spaces loaded with games and furniture that swiftly reconfigure to match students’ changing needs. Integrating the academic experience into everyday life with classrooms in the residence halls, Faculty-in-Residence programs and Residential Learning Communities. The new buildings of the residential village will serve as a focal point for the inimitable Tulane experience, where students embrace learning and life with equal enthusiasm.
